Indigenous People
In 2006 a group of us who whakapapa (have genealogical ties) to Taranaki maunga embarked on a journey to learn te reo o Taranaki – Taranaki dialect. We travelled to different marae around the maunga (mountain) and learnt about who we are as a people.
This digital story is a representation of that journey through my eyes…
It is also an extension of an indigenous people project that I am working on at the moment: documenting stories of indigenous people around the world that talk about the effects that loss of land and colonisation has had on our people and what we can do to heal and move positively into the future.
See also my personal story here.
I will return to update this page with more info as the project progresses. Enjoy, Jo
